Ode to Congee

Congee (or jook in Cantonese) is underrated in the western world. It’s seriously one of my favorite things to make for breakfast as it’s amazingly comforting and versatile. I feel like food is edible art, not simply because it can be very eye catching but also because it expresses culture in a very direct way. I don’t claim to be versed in Chinese culture, but I do claim to be absolutely obsessed with Chinese food and the culture/food rabbit hole is one I’m all too happy to go down.
