This portrait was painted for a private client, in memory of their grandfather who recently passed away. It’s always an honour to work on such portraits (I’ve been there, I know how important every memory can be), but it’s also a huge responsibility because of what’s at stake. So I did my best to hint at all the joy and kindness, all the bittersweet nostalgia, all the memories of smiles and great times together in this portrait, and I hope that’s what my client and their family will see in this piece…
