This piece called Wild flowers was illustrated for an outdoor art show in The Meadows, Edinburgh. Wild flowers support a wide range of species from bees and butterflies, to birds and hedgehogs. However, due to development and changes in farming methods, wildflower meadows have drastically declined. The UK has lost 97% of its wild flower meadows since the 1930s. This will be a continuing illustration project for me. By drawing individual flower species over time, I hope to share the beauty and importance of wild flower meadows with others.
