Character illustrations for comic Kickstarter collectible cards

Earlier this year, I worked on a really fun project for David Pepose, Ringo-Award nominated writer of Spencer & Locke, The O.Z., and Scout’s Honor, to illustrate four characters from his comic The O.Z.. Each card features a single character focus, a distinct and vibrant color palette, and simplified backgrounds. These portraits were used for collectible trading cards for The O.Z. issue #2 Kickstarter campaign as a stretch goal. In addition to the character illustrations, I also designed the card’s front and back designs.

Here are some very kind words David shared about working with me:

“When I first discovered Rachel’s work on Twitter, I was blown away, and immediately contacted her for illustrated portraits for my fantasy series The O.Z. To say Rachel lived up to her reputation is an understatement — she is a true unicorn, able to deliver high-quality work under a tight timetable, all while incorporating any edits with a wonderfully collaborative and professional attitude. As someone constantly seeking out fresh artistic talent, I am already looking forward to working with Rachel again, and I would enthusiastically recommend her for any illustrated project.”

David Pepose was such a great client and collaborator to work with! I look forward to reading and supporting more of his future comics and hopefully working with him again on another project! I highly recommend checking out his comics, including The O.Z.. The O.Z. issue #2 Kickstarter runs until September 15th, 2021.

I hired Rachel for a small project for a big client. I needed my small team of artists to knock it out of the park, and Rachel absolutely did. She communicated well, consistently, and on time. She took feedback, asked great questions, and delivered on time every week. The client was nothing short of blown away by her work and loved working with her. I will try to hire Rachel again for whatever opportunity comes next, you should too.
