The Card Counter – movie poster

When I was looking at the movies that were soon to be released, there were a couple of films that I was interested in. But this particular film really stood out to me for a few reasons: first it’s a revenge story, second it’s a thriller (which are two of my favourite genres) and lastly because it had a lot of interesting visuals that I thought would make a great movie poster. With this illustration I wanted to add a certain grittiness so I went with a dry-brush 1960’s style for the portraits. I had a lot of fun with this personal piece and I’m really happy with the finished poster design.

Over the course of several series books, Simon has been an absolute pleasure to work with — he’s talented, professional, and detailed. He deftly translates entirely imagined worlds into amazing works of art that make those worlds real on the covers of our books. His talent speaks for itself in his portfolio and I would recommend him to anyone looking to work with an expert in character and scene illustration.
