For the past year I’ve been working on a series of mini-comics called Texas Tracts. The books parody the infamous Chick gospel tract format but contain wry stories about my childhood, growing up Catholic in the Lone Star State. The first of these, Holy Diver, has already been circulating for a while and getting good reviews:
“Rachelle Meyer cunningly subverts the mini landscape format of the Chick Tracts in her autobio series Texas Tracts, appropriating their look and parodying them with a far more beneficial intent.” – Broken Frontier
“This first of the bunch ranks as one of the absolute finest and most accomplished minis I’ve read in recent years.” – Four Color Apocalypse
“Quite subtle and deft in its storytelling. … Her perspective, her voice, is very much needed in the community.” – Deconstructing Comics
I’m running a Kickstarter to fund the printing costs from 15 September to 15 October.
