Dracula Portrait

Halloween is one of my favourite times of the year so I decided to go ahead and create a photo-study of Dracula. The portrait itself was actually deceptively difficult to get right due to the foreshortening of the face and the light source shining from below the subject. I want to start incorporating this type of dramatic and ominous lighting in some of my future work so it was good to take a break from what I normally do and try something a bit different.

Over the course of several series books, Simon has been an absolute pleasure to work with — he’s talented, professional, and detailed. He deftly translates entirely imagined worlds into amazing works of art that make those worlds real on the covers of our books. His talent speaks for itself in his portfolio and I would recommend him to anyone looking to work with an expert in character and scene illustration.
