Lively illustrations for poetry website
Posted 2 months ago and submitted by Kate Hazell | Share link:

I’ve just finished a lovely commission of illustrations for the website of poet extraordinaire, Dr. Jenny Lewis. The main illustration is intended as a ‘landscape’ to summarise Jenny’s skills as a poet, travel writer, playwright, children’s author, songwriter, translator and tutor.

Throughout the website are other ‘icons’ like this travel writing flying pencil and the blog page’s ‘news’ doodle. They needed to be fun, simple and lively. I had a lot of fun making the work and am very happy with how crisp they look online.

Jenny said of the work: “So thrilled with my lovely, fresh new website designed by the brilliant Kate Hazell”

Kate’s illustrations gave the front section of BBC World Histories magazine its own distinct character. She provided striking, quirky and original illustrations for a wide range of topics, in a tight timeframe. We liked her flexibility, lightness of touch and thoughtful approach. It was a great pleasure working with her!
