I’ve been playing a lot of fantasy RPGs lately, after a long break from anything high-fantasy or associated genres. I went through a long stint of reading contemporary urban fantasy, but lately I’ve been itching to return to my fantasy roots. I decided to illustrate one of my characters, an elven hunter, having a nap under a tree. I really love illustrating vulnerability in my characters, and I wanted a character with a weapon being in a state of such complete rest and relaxation that even the animals are not afraid of him anymore.
The colours are very rich and dense and the details took me a long while to finish. I really enjoyed desiging his clothing too, and had a lot of fun researching old style dress and detailing (like the hawks on his gloves) to tell more of a story about the character.
