Brand, an international design publication, featured my work on BB. King’s Google Doodle in their recent music issue. I worked with the editor, Luca Yin, on images and story, as did Angelica McKinley at Google. The resulting twelve page article has garnered positive reaction around the world.
Luca took isolated elements that comprised the original video and decontextualized them to fit a magazine format. That act presents a number of challenges. I had to rephotograph a few art boards in order to get them the resolution they were looking for. Presenting B.B. King’s entire life in a two minute and nine second animated video was difficult enough, but Brand managed to convey King’s story effectively.
It was an honor to have my work showcased beside designs by Keith Haring, Andy Warhol and Heemoon Jang.
