Las Grietas – Acrylic Painting in Puerto Rico
Posted 5 months ago and submitted by Benjamin Davis | Share link:

Since moving to San Juan, Puerto Rico a few months ago, I’ve been getting outside and painting a lot of the scenery around here. Most of these paintings have been quick 2-3 hour paintings done from life. With this piece I wanted to show the detail and scale I can get when I put the hours in. Photo reference for this piece was taken by my favorite beach not far from my apartment, Escambron Beach. I’ve since visited this spot several times during sunset but have never seen the sky putting on quite the show that it did that first evening that I shot reference.

This painting is 55″ x 42″ on Canson mixed media paper. I’ve always loved painting directly on a surface attached to the wall and it had been a few years since I had worked this way.

I spent a lot of time searching for "the right artist" to help me with the artwork for my new music CD and got lucky when I came across Ben's site! I was impressed by his portfolio and the variety of work which demonstrated strong technical skills and versatility. Working with Ben on this project has been a great experience - he's so easy to work with, has a really positive attitude and is keen on helping the client materialize the artistic vision. Ben delivered exactly what I had in mind and it was a lot of fun to see him take my brief descriptions and converge on what I wanted.
