This year (and the year before) we committed to attending several comic cons instead of holding the London exhibitions we’ve been doing every 2-3 years over the last couple of decades. With many of the conventions delayed due to you-know-what, we were really happy to finally have a table at Meanwhile in Coventry. Meanwhile Festival is the brainchild of illustrator Simon Myers and with 2021 being the convention’s inaugural year we were delighted to be part of the Pro tent. The event was a blinder and we had an excellent time.
Next up was October’s Mil-D-Con at RAF Mildenhall and Bruce Richardson kindly invited us to have a table as part of the Artist Alley at the event. Mil-D-Con is a comic con put on for US military personnel and their families stationed in the UK, so there was lots of security getting onto the base, which was quite exciting as a civilian. Again, we had a fantastic time and it was a pleasure to be there. The weather wasn’t the best, but we did regret not taking the opportunity to have a go at the axe throwing while we were there and not getting a photo and autograph from the mountain of a man who is Game of Thrones’ James Cosmo.
Coming up in November is Thought Bubble, the Yorkshire Comic Art Festival; we will be on table 42 in the Redshirt Hall. While we had our self-published books, guides and a small selection (1-50) of the Versus Evil trading cards at the first two conventions, at Thought Bubble we’re going to have a collection of comics and the complete set (1-138) of Versus Evil trading cards, along with several other goodies. There’s still a lot of work we need to do to prepare for the event, but we’re beavering away to get everything ready, as the festival will be here in no time at all. We can’t wait and we hope to see you there!
