Michael's ability to create and conceptualize ideas started from a very young age growing up on the Lower East Side of Manhattan during New Yorks' street-arts movement. Graffiti gave him a direct outlet to his imagination. Especially the works of Lee Quinones who directly impacted him from a mural created on the side of his elementary school back in the early '80s. His drive to learn how to draw gave him the focus necessary, during his middle school years, to enter the Rhode Island School of Design. Michael has always been passionate about the arts and has worked in many venues to create his knowledge base for design. His willingness to take risk and try different things that were of interest to him, made it possible for his success. Coming out of a generation of innovators, kids who believed and lived with the mentality of creating something from nothing, gave him the confidence necessary to tackle the challenges the world would provide. Not only did he build his skill set this way, he did this for many reputable companies in the industry.
Whether it was working in film_video, illustrating for children's books, and creating greeting cards he eventually ended up in the footwear industry. His strong illustration background helped him to make the transition into footwear with Fila back in the '90s. His ability to adapt to different situations came from his willingness to be open to all sorts of creative endeavors. His work colleagues were highly skilled and confident individuals who made for a very competitive but healthy environment to learn and grow. These fortunate circumstances have lead to him being motivated in the creation of products that cover several different venues.
His aim is to be mindful of consumer needs but to also bring creativity, innovation, fun and storytelling to product success.
